King George’s Arms
2501 Victoria Park Ave, Scarborough, ON M1T 1A1
I have lost count of how many times I’ve been to King George’s Arms so that’s a testament to how much I like it. The funny thing is that even though I have been there so many times, the only food I have tried from their menu is their chicken wings. I think their wings might be the best wings I have ever had and that’s saying a lot…
Let’s back up a bit though. King George’s Arms is an Irish pub in a plaza close to Victoria Park and the 401. Their staff is always friendly and the pub has a homey feel to it, with seating at a few tables, booths, and the bar. I have seen it pretty packed in there after work, during sports games, and on Saint Patrick’s day (pre-COVID-19), and it’s probably due to their specials. King George’s Arms has half-priced wings from 4-6 pm every Monday to Thursday with the purchase of a beverage. Under around $15 for the Jester Size of the best chicken wings, french fries, and a pint of beer? How can you beat that? No wonder I used to go after work with my coworkers, friends, or husband…basically whoever was willing to go with me.
After a couple of years of restaurants being closed off-and-on for indoor dining due to COVID, I finally managed to go to King George’s Arms again recently. Their chicken wings were just as good or better than I remembered. They were big and meaty, really crispy, and nicely flavoured. I usually get the Garpar flavour, but I have tried some of their other flavours of wings before and they are not afraid to use spice there, which I personally like since I like spicy. Therefore, just a heads up that their Jerk and BBQ Jerk flavoured wings are really spicy and their Hot Sizzle wings also have a bit of a kick.
If I have managed to convince you to try King George’s Arms, please let me know if the other food options on their menu are as good as their wings. 😊 I want to try something new, but it’s difficult to convince myself to do so when their chicken wings are so good…
Update: The prices at King George’s Arms have gone up a bit since I wrote this blog post.
