Eat Around The World at EPCOT
200 Epcot Center Drive, Orlando, FL 3283, United States
For my best friend’s birthday this year, we went to Orlando, Florida in February for a mini getaway and spent a day at EPCOT (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow). She had pitched going to Walt Disney World as an adult (the last time I was there was over 30 years ago) and without kids (she and the other friends who would be going have kids but I don’t so that was their perk) since I was hesitant to go to Florida again. My mother-in-law lives there so I have been quite often and there are so many places in the world I have yet to visit, but then I heard you can eat and drink around the world at EPCOT and I was sold.
We went during EPCOT International Festival of the Arts so they also had Food Studios, which were food kiosks serving art-inspired cuisine and limited-time menu items. Since there were four of us, we were able to try a lot of different dishes (the full list is below) and drinks by sharing everything. As you can see from the photos, the dishes were not big so we basically had one bite each of most of them. There were times when we got hungry despite eating all day. 😂
My favourite dishes were the Soft Shell Crab Slider, Deconstructed Key Lime Pie, Croqueta, and Chorizo and Potato Empanada. The Soft Shell Crab Slider was flavourful, but I love soft-shell crab or any crab so that was an easy favourite for me. The Deconstructed Key Lime Pie tasted just like key lime pie even though it looked nothing like it. The Croqueta and Chorizo and Potato Empanada had fried, crispy exteriors with filling on the inside. What’s not to like? Also, have you ever had freeze-dried Skittles? The Rainbow Cake had them and it was interesting to eat crunchy instead of chewy Skittles.
If you want to eat around the world in one day, you don’t need to have a private jet; you just need to visit EPCOT. I was also going to say you don’t need to be rich, but that is debatable since Disney World is not cheap. Feeling like a kid at heart while eating good food from all the different countries made our lighter wallets worth it though…
