Gyubee Japanese Grill

3720 Midland Ave #109, Scarborough, ON M1V 0G3

I wasn’t a big fan of Korean BBQ before because I was against paying to cook my own food. Isn’t the point of going to a restaurant so you don’t have to cook? 😉 Then I tried Gyubee Japanese Grill, an all-you-can-eat Japanese barbecue restaurant, and that changed. There are 10 Gyubee Japanese Grill locations, with five being in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) so if you live downtown, in Mississauga, Scarborough, or Markham, you are in luck. I have been to the Markham and Scarborough locations for lunch and they were both fantastic.

Since Gyubee Japanese Grill is cheaper by $2 per person for lunch on Mondays to Thursdays, my husband and I like to go when we have a staycation day (yup, that is a savings of a whole $4 for us). Their quality ingredients are fresh and tasty, and they have good menu selections. If I think that about their lunch menu, imagine their all-day menu! On their lunch menu, they have items like kalbi, pork belly, shrimp, kimchi, takoyaki, and bibimbap, but I especially like their sweet soy and miso beef brisket. They are tender and because they are so thinly sliced, they don’t take long to grill which is useful since they have a 1.5 hour seating limit.

If you live in Canada as I do, you typically need to wait until BBQ season a.k.a. summer to enjoy the delicious charred taste and smell of barbecued or grilled food (unless you are brave enough to barbecue in the snow). An alternative option would be to go to Gyubee Japanese Grill so you can grill tasty food to your preference and heart’s content in a warm, “interactive dining experience” as their website puts it. Since it is still snowing in April in the GTA, I will go to Gyubee Japanese Grill…
