Konak Turkish Cuisine

2501 Victoria Park Ave Unit 3, Scarborough, ON M1T 1A1

If you love Middle Eastern cuisine as much as I do, Scarborough, Ontario is a food haven due to the numerous shawarma and kebab restaurants, especially in the Warden and Lawrence area. For some reason, Turkish restaurants have been difficult to find, though, and all the ones I went to in the past are now closed. That’s why when I saw that Konak Turkish Cuisine had opened in the plaza at Victoria Park and Highway 401 as my husband and I were driving past the area one day, it got quickly added to my never-ending list of restaurants to try.

My husband and I ended up going to Konak Turkish Cuisine for Valentine’s Day earlier this year, and again recently because we suggested it for his sister’s birthday. Konak Turkish Cuisine is a classy-looking restaurant, and they have a slow-turning vertical spit and a wood-fired stone oven.

Both my husband and I got the Adana Kebab when we went to Konak Turkish Cuisine the first time. It was delicious and nicely presented. The second time we went, we got the Sautéed Shrimp and Sigara Boregi to share, three of us got the Yaprak Doner for our entrées, and my other sister-in-law got the Chicken Shish. The Sautéed Shrimp was tasty with mushrooms and tiny shrimps. I hadn’t had Sigara Boregi since Anatolia Restaurant in Etobicoke closed (what a shame…). It is fried Phyllo sheets rolled with feta cheese. So yummy! The doner meat in the Yaprak Doner was tender, flavourful, and plentiful, and was served with lavash (a thin, soft flatbread), French fries, rice, pickles, pickled peppers, and onions.

Not only does Konak Turkish Cuisine have delicious Turkish food, but they also have good customer service. Our waitress was nice and patient with our questions. She also gave us complimentary tea after our meals, and brought my sister-in-law baklava for her birthday. I suspect I will be going to Konak Turkish Cuisine frequently now that I have found a Turkish restaurant to satisfy those food cravings again. Grilled meats and vegetables, lahmacun (Turkish pizza), baklava…they make my mouth water just thinking about it. 🤤
