Slabtown Cider Co.

4559 Concession 6, Uxbridge, ON L9P 1R4

After a day trip to Georgina, which is on the southern side of Lake Simcoe, my husband and I wanted to find somewhere to stop for dinner on the way home. Doing a quick search on my phone while my husband was driving, Slabtown Cider Co. popped up and since we enjoy The County Cider Company in Prince Edward County so much, we decided to go there.

I remember thinking “Slabtown Cider Co. is a neat place!” when we pulled up to it. It is located in Uxbridge and there is not much else around it. They have their main structure, which is pretty big, a covered patio, an uncovered patio, a huge field with picnic benches, and trees at the back of the lot. We had our dog with us so we chose to sit in the covered patio section (being dog-friendly, Slabtown Cider Co. gets a bonus point in my book).

My husband and I ended up only getting some ciders since we weren’t hungry enough to have dinner there. I know this is a food blog, but I need to dedicate this paragraph to their ciders. Don’t worry, we went back to try their food and not to ruin the surprise, but it was amazing as well. First, back to the ciders… The ciders at Slabtown Cider Co. were the best I have ever had, especially the Pineapple Mimosa and Ginger Spritz. If you don’t like sweet, they have Founder’s Zero, which is more dry and tastes like a Chardonnay. There are 10 flavours of ciders and they are all delicious so it’s nice that you can taste four different ones in a flight for $12.

I liked Slabtown Cider Co. so much that I brought my parents there a few weeks later for my dad’s birthday. This time we ate. My mom and I both got the Roasted Prime Rib Sandwich – the meat was tender and flavourful, the bread was soft but supported the prime rib well, and the fresh-cut fries were slightly crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. The Pepperoni Slabtown Pizza my husband ordered had fresh toppings, tasty pepperoni, a good amount of cheese, and the aioli on the side was delicious. Lastly, my dad’s BBQ Half Chicken (note: it is a half-hour wait) was deboned except for the wing so it was a big piece of chicken. We were all pleased with our meals.

I am very glad we discovered Slabtown Cider Co. Even though Prince Edward County is awesome, it’s nice not to have to drive for over two hours to drink delicious ciders while eating good food and relaxing with a view. Life can’t get any better than that. 🙂

  • Dear Author,

I believe deeply that the establishment you write about above is top shelf. That said, “Tortured Path Cider @ County Cider Company” is currently in fact the best, most unique cider offering. (Like period) “.” Period
