Taunton Tacos

Food trucks are less common in Canada than in other countries, like the United States. This is due to the strict food truck regulations here, which contribute to high start-up and operating costs. However, there seems to be an increasing number of food trucks in Ontario in recent years, such as Food Truck Alley in Hampton. Food Truck Alley has a seating area with benches and umbrellas to provide shade, and features six food trucks offering a range of cuisines. One food truck, Taunton Tacos, has received several awards – Platinum Community Votes Oshawa for Best Food Truck, and Diamond Readers’ Choice Award Clarington for Best Food Truck and Best Mexican.

Due to their awards, both my husband and I chose to get our lunch from Taunton Tacos when we were at Food Truck Alley recently. I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla, and my husband got the Beef Chimichanga. The Chicken Quesadilla was crispy on the outside, tasty and gooey from the cheese on the inside, and the chicken was tender. They did not skimp on the cheese and chicken, and there were even char marks on the Mexican street corn in the quesadilla. My husband’s Beef Chimichanga also had a crispy shell and a thick layer of gooey cheese on top of the beef. The beef was flavourful but not overpowering, the rice was fluffy and not overdone, the onions were fresh, and the other toppings also stood out. While we were eating our food, I noticed that the table next to us had gotten the nachos from Taunton Tacos, and I had thought to myself that it was too bad we didn’t order it as well. The nachos were piled so high, I was surprised they didn’t topple over! I couldn’t even finish my Chicken Quesadilla though so my eyes were bigger than my stomach as usual. 🤭

If I want Mexican food, I know where I will be going from now on…Taunton Tacos. They have the best Mexican food my husband and I have had in a long time, or maybe ever? Not only did Taunton Tacos serve delicious, plentiful food at a reasonable price though, but they also had excellent customer service. The owner brought the food out to her customers, and she was genuinely friendly and polite. Maybe one day I will operate my own food truck, but that is likely a pipe dream and I definitely won’t have my food truck next to Taunton Tacos; the competition will be too tough!
