Meet Sushi and Boil

Are you a fellow crab lover? It can be a lot of work to enjoy the little piece of crab meat we get with every “crack”. Yet, we are willing to put in all that effort when we love crab. Snow crab, King crab, Bairdi crab, Dungeness crab…there are great options out there, but Dungeness crab is my favourite ever since I tried it at Locus Point Steamers in Baltimore because I find Dungeness crab to be more meaty and sweet.

For my birthday meal this year, I wanted to have crab and raw oysters so I did some research and eventually found Meet Sushi and Boil. I was in disbelief that I hadn’t known about them before since their menu has everything I love to eat and they have good reviews. Meet Sushi and Boil not only has snow crab legs and King crab legs, but also Dungeness crab! 😁 I didn’t even realize Dungeness crab was an option in the Greater Toronto Area before this…

Meet Sushi and Boil is not a big restaurant. It only has six tables, but they take reservations in case you’re worried about having to wait (it did fill up at one point when my husband and I were there). I ordered six Buck A Shuck Oysters and the Dungeness Crab Boil (are you surprised?) with corn and lotus root, and my husband got the Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box. The raw oysters were on special for $2 each and the Dungeness crab boil was $46.99 so their prices are reasonable.

The raw oysters were fresh and decent-sized, and they came with a slice of lemon and Tabasco sauce to put on top. I had chosen the House Blend flavour and Medium spicy level for my Dungeness crab – the sauce was rich and flavourful, and it had the right amount of spice. The crab was fresh since it came from their live tank and it was pretty big and meaty, the corn was boiled perfectly and buttery, and the lotus root was the perfect density. So yummy! My husband’s Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box came with miso soup and a seaweed salad. He said that the salmon teriyaki was grilled well, the sushi was fresh, and the California rolls were tasty.

The flavours at Meet Sushi and Boil are unique, but somehow it works as their food is delicious. It’s going to be tough to decide what to order the next time I’m there because I really enjoyed the Dungeness crab boil, but there are so many other menu items I want to try. At least now I know that I don’t have to go all the way back to Baltimore to get my Dungeness crab fix. I will just be going to Meet Sushi and Boil…a lot!
